AirPlay music streaming stops between songs

When I play music through AirPlay to an AirPort Extreme, the stream will stop between songs. The iTunes keeps on playing, but I hear nothing. It just stops streaming as soon as the current track ends. I tried with crossfading tracks a couple of seconds, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If I stream from my iPhone there's no problem at all, so I guess this is an iTunes' software problem and not an AirPort Express' hardware problem. In the past, with previous version of iTunes, I could stream music without this interruptions between songs. Any idea about how to fix this? It's a very annoying problem.

I've got the same problem with my Macbook Pro. I'm using iTunes 10.5 in Lion 10.7.2 and an Airport Express that over the last couple weeks (since updating to Lion) has started acting really poorly - dropping more than before and after most songs will just lose the connection. I updated the Firmware and also changed the channel of the Airport Express with no success. Help us Apple!

I don't know if Apple really cares about fixing the streaming issues or not. If so they are being incredibly lax about it. I am happily enjoying my Hybrid Sonos,Airport Express,Airport Extreme system. Blending the system by attaching airport expresses to Sonos Zone players and a Sonos Bridge unit to my Airport Extreme has cured all of my years of Apple streaming problems. I also have one Sonos Bridge extentending it's mesh network and one airport express extending the apple network. it's a pricey fix but it works great. I also love the added access to Pandora the Sonos system provides.Between that and the huge external hard drive attached to my imac and accessed through the "line in" feature on the Sonos I have all the music I could ask for. Also, since i upgraded to a iphone 4S I am also using my old original iphone and my iphone 4 as great ipod & remote controls using the "remote" and "Sonos" apps.

Best of luck out there...

I bought a Zeppelin Air on Black Friday. Love it.

Started ripping CDs to Lossless, but now I found that after three or so tracks the sound goes silent when using AirPlay via WiFi. Yet the iTunes insolently still plays on.

I am using iTunes from my old End 2007 MacBook, from a USB external drive for the iTunes library. It was going so well.

Is it only a few of us with this problem, or is it just a few of us? In my mind this is *BIG* problem,

I am deeply dismayed to see this issue has been ongoing for several months, perhaps it only affects a small number of us? Or is it that other people think they've "done something wrong it is their fault" / "Modern tech, what do you expect?"

I have a couple of days left before I can return the Zepplin Air, lovely kit, and it doesn't look like it is their fault either.

I have had a Zepplin since it was released and find it to be better at streaming than my stand alone airport expresses. Make sure you have downloaded the latest firmware update from B & W. I just set mine up in my office and it is working well. it is only 15 feet from the router though. Unfortunatly this problem is very wide spread and has been going on for years. Apple support does not want to address it apparently. I am streaming from an external HD through itunes on my pc to the Zepplin Air. Push come to shove you can always buy an ipod and attach it to the Zepplin. Crude, but then you can actualy change songs with the Zepplin remote. Small concilation. best of luck.

I've updated my Time Capsule and Airport Express to the latest update.

I moved my Express into my garage which is about 1/2 the distance from where I had it before. I worked in the garage for 6 hours that day with no music interuptions.

I haven't tried the interference robustness yet, however I do have to reset the Express at times because the device that are attached to it won't communicate with the internet. Once it has been cycled it seems to work great for a several week period of time.

Maybe the solution is to power cycle the Express every few weeks.

I have had the same problem - intermittently over the last year. I have three Airport Extremes running the same extended network throughout my house with 6 Airport Express's and 8 zones. I read through the entirety of this issue. I implemented one change to the Airport Extreme's:

Switching Wireless Channel to "Channel 9" instead of "Automatic".

This appears - for the time being to have solved the issue. I will wait and see.
