Here is my situation.
Trying to migrate from old XP system to Windows 7 on a new PC.
Itunes and quicktime were installed on the old pc and may still be installed; I see files to that effect. But I cannot activate Itunes or QT on the old PC.
I have ITunes on the new PC, but I haven't been able to put any of my music files from the old PC into ITunes folders. I can see them on the new hard drive, but they don't transfer via Itunes to new ITunes folders.
At some point, I got a message that told me that I already had 5 PCs authorized (I presume, to my Apple or ITunes account. That is surprising as I and my wife have only 4 PC including the new one, and one iPhone...so how could I have 5 PCs authorized already? I guess I have no way to identify the 5 "authorized" PCs.
Anyway, I tried to deauthorize the old PC (to get under the 5 PC limit) but of course, I could not because now, after converting the old XP PC to Windows 7, Itunes isn't working. When I try to install Itunes on the old PC (now, a Win 7 PC), I get a message that tells me Quicktime didn't install correctly and and Itunes needs QuickTime. This has become too complicated and obscure for me to sort out. My problem sounds vaguely like some of the problems here, but not exactly the same.
Any ideas or suggested solutions? Thanks in advance.
