Looking for USB IR dongle that works with Apple Remote.

Hi all,

I have a MBP retina without IR build-in and tried several possibilities to use either white/aluminium Apple Remote to control Plex, iTunes, Keynote, PowerPoint, EyeTV etc... or using another nice remote via bluetooth.

For the moment not still with a complete solution.

FIRST sol.

Via bluetooth the only solution is "Targus Presenter for Mac"

The drivers are discontinued and they do not work 100% fine. The good thing: volume up/down works, mouse move and right/left click also, laser pointer, and 2 buttons can be configured to open apps or run applescripts.

SECOND sol.

Using the Apple Remote can only be achieved using some sort of IR receiver via USB plus aditional software.

Software:

Mira http://twistedmelon.com/mira/ (simpler and preferencepanel) better option in my opinion

or

Remote Buddy http://www.iospirit.com/products/remotebuddy/ (more complet and application)

IR receiver:

Manta TR1 USB receiver

Others (see Mira or Remote Buddy webs)

All are too big receivers!!!

Has someone succeed in using EyeTV DTT deluxe as a IR receiver? With EyeTV soft open the IR detects the Apple Remote but, Mira (do not see it) and Remote Buddy (see it but I cannot configure). The eyeTV remoto DO works. Still big. http://www.soundandvision.com/images/archivesart/1204elgato.5.jpg

I am having this issue in 2016. After research I discovered that a cheep bluetooth keyboard will work at my presentations!! Throw away the old IR silver remote that worked on my old MBPro.
