Mac OS X Terminal - How to get out of 'man'?

When I type a man command eg. 'man chmod' after I've spacebar-key to end of document, how can I return to the command line interface? On the status line it says END in reverse text (but it will not end !)

Dual 1.8GHz G5, Mac OS X (10.5.6), Wacom 6x11"

Pressing h will give you help, and q will exit - less is what is used to display the manual pages, so take a look at the man page for that.

You should press q to exit a man page.

You can also save the man output as Postscript and then open it with Preview using the following commands:
$ man -t chmod > chmod.ps
$ open chmod.ps
