I have the EXACT same problem. My husband bought me my 4g iPod Touch on Boxing Day. I connected to my Wi-Fi as soon as I unpacked it and browsed the app store for hours while d/ling games, apps, books, etc. It worked great for one day, and then yesterday I tried again to use the internet and nothing worked. I was at home all day with the same Wi-Fi connection that I was connected to all day the day before. FINALLY at night it worked (but I did nothing to make it work, it just suddenly worked on it's own). I thought perhaps my internet was down or something. Today I'm back to work, and I have connected to the Wi-Fi connection here, it even shows the IP address and everything, but NO INTERNET. This is really starting to peeve me off. I've tried EVERYTHING - All of the troubleshooting tips and tricks on Apple's support pages, and I've even tried looking on secular websites for help, and it seems to be an ongoing common problem with iPhones, iPods and iPads. I feel like I wasted my money on this thing.

i am now able to go on the internet eg google and that, all you need to do is,
settings - wi-fi - choose your network put your code in if you have one then, it says that your conneceted an when you go to the internet and it still says you are not connected to the internet, then do this, forget that network < click that an turn your ipod off then back on again, and go to settings wi-fi and then click look at networks get yours and then you should be connected! sorry if you don't get what i just said, any questions i am happy to help 🙂

Everybody who is involved with this thread: this is my response.

There are two aspects of an internet connection on an iDevice: Network (I will call 'LAN') and your connection to the internet. When you connect your iDevice to a Wi-Fi network, that is a connection between your iDevice and your router to your LAN (local area network). Your connection to the internet (WAN, or Wide Area Network) comes into your house through whatever modem your Service Provider gives you. That modem is then connected to your router, and your router routes that internet connection to all the devices on your LAN. For you to get a connection to the internet, your iDevice needs to know what device is the router. On any default LAN, your router should be '192.168.1.1' If you go to the Wi-Fi settings on your iDevice and tap the arrow next to the name of your Wi-Fi, you should see the information that the router has given you. If the field for 'Router' is blank, then there was a problem with that information getting to you from the router. Reset your iDevice, and your router and see if that works for you.

Just keep in mind: when in doubt, reset!

Hope this helps

I was having this problem on a 2nd Gen iPod Touch running iOS 4.2.1

The fix was fairly simple :

1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
2. Click the blue arrow next to your selected network.
3. Press "Forget this Network".
4. Turn the iPod off and on.
5. Go to Settings > General > Reset and press "Reset Network Settings".
6. Wait for the iPod to restart, and then turn it off again.
7. Switch off your router. (This will force it to reassign all IP's again. It also clears anything in the cache, if it has one).
8. Switch the router on first, wait for 5 minutes, and then switch on your iPod.
9. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, find your network and type in the password.

This seemed to fix mine, so it should work on anyone else's too.

**I have had my iPod Touch 3rd Generation 64gb for about a year. I went to stay at a hotel and I connected to their Wifi just fine. But, when I came back home the next day, my home Wifi wouldnt work. Previously, I had been connecting to my home Wifi, which it Linksys, just fine. When I came home, I "connected" to it again like normal, but then I went to Safari and it said*: +"Safari cannot open page because it is not connected to the Internet."+ *What really confused me is that up in the top left corner next to where it says "iPod" it shows the Wifi connected with full signal. My brothers have 3rd generation iPod Touches, also both 64 gb, and they are connecting to the home Wifi perfectly. I don't know if it was the hotel Wifi that somehow messed up my iPod, but it certainly isn't working at my house. I have restored my iPod, but i haven't yet "forgotten" the network or restarted my router. I have read other messages and that is what it seems like I should do. They have an apple store in my town and I am wondering if I should take my iPod there to see if I could get it fixed or replaced. I am just very glad that it seems like this is a common problem.*

*Thanks for reading and possibly trying to help in the future,*
