Help with creating a printable worksheet

I'm trying to make a printable material list and can't figure out the formula to make the cells represent the right information. Basically, on Sheet 1, I have a list of a whole bunch of different materials. Column "A" are checkboxes, column "B" are the materials and column "C" are the categories. On Sheet 2, I have a blank table. I'm trying to make it so that when any given box is checked in column "A", it displays the information in column "B" on Sheet 2's blank table. Basically a summary or material list of all my checked items. Any idea's??

Hi boxer,

Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Numbers '09 forum.

What you're looking for is a "breakout" table. Here's an example:

Table 2-1 shows the type of result you want. Instructions for this table can be found in my post in THIS DISCUSSION from last September.

Other solutions are available, and can be found using "breakout" as a search term on this forum.

Barry

Boxer,

You can do exactly what you are describing, but it's a bit advanced in terms of programming and I wonder if you really need it or if something very basic might do.

Here's the quick and dirty. Sort on the column with the check boxes, Select the cells you wish to print, and Command-C to copy.

You can "Edit > Paste Values" this selection into a clean Sheet and Print that Sheet.

You can also, my favorite if I'm in a hurry, Open Preview.app and Command-N to create a new preview document from the Selection. Then Command-P to print the table from Preview.
