iPhone video with FCE...General questions
Hello all I am new to FCE and am working on a project using iPhone 4 video.
I have so far figured out (with help from researching the Apple Support Discussions) that I need to convert iPhone video before it will play nice (so to speak) with FCE.
I am using MPEG Streamclip to convert iPhone video to Quicktime/Apple Intermediate Codec/29.97 fps/1280 x 720 (DHTV 720p).
In FCE I set the Easy Setup to "HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 720p30".
My first question is does this sound right? It's hard to tell if I'm going wrong right off the bat or not.
My second question is really about MPEG Streamclip. I ask it here because it seems that a lot of people are familiar with it.
Why does the file size grow so much when run through Streamclip at the settings that I have?
For example, a 1:13 movie 1280 x 720 29.97 fps H.264 imported into iPhoto from my iPhone (how else can you get it on your computer?) is 122 MB.
After Streamclip converts it at the settings above it is 525.6 MB. Am I doing something wrong?
The "Quality" setting in Streamclip doesn't seem to make any difference.
Clearly I don't know what I'm doing.
Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks very much!
