My old Macbook (white) (see below) is still working fine. The only problem I have is the HD is only 80GB. The original HD is 5400 rpm 8MB buffer. Maybe SATA 1.5. If upgrade it to a new 500 HD 7200 rpm, 32MB, SATA 2 or higher, do you think it will work OK? I am wondering the battery and other hardware is compatible with the new HD? The battery will drain too quick? Thank you in advance.
iMac 2.4GHz, 2GB, 320G HD, with Windows XP SP3,
Mac OS X (10.5.8),
MacBook 2GHz, 1GB, 80G HD Mac OS X 10.6.1
A bigger drive will work fine. Battery life will be only slightly affected. You will need a SATA notebook drive. Do not buy any of the so-called "green" drives.
I can understand that size doen't matter. Also 5400 rpm vs 7200 rpm; 8MB vs 16MB; and SATA 1.5 vs SATA 3.0 do not matter, right? I am not very technical person.
