iSight not working on Facebook?

So the other day I tried making a video for my friend, but right when I click video, it says: "Camera not Found please turn your camera on or make sue that it is not in use by another application." Obviously it's on. I mean it's built into the macbook pro? So i don't understand what's wrong.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

For any iSight problems, first try restarting the Mac. If the problems persist, try all relevant suggestions from:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

If your iSight problem still occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.

However, if your built-in iSight still does not work after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, and if iSight does not show as a USB hardware device in your Mac's System Profiler utility, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

And what if this doesnt fix it?

It is something to do with flash compatibility, as I have tried ALL fixes and nothing works.

My iSight works fine in photobooth and Facetime, but it will not work on any flash web sites.

Please Apple when you release an update, patch it to correct a webcam.

iPhone signal problems with iPhone 4, and iSight problems with new OS update, why do I keep giving these people money for broken things????

If that happens, we will review all facts at that time and offer suggestions relevant to the new facts.

Flash conflict is not the OP's posted issue.  The discussions in this topic won't help you.
If you are still having "Flash" problems, start a new topic with details of your trouble in a forum most relevant to your problem:

http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa?categoryID=1

If your problem is with Flash problems, perhaps in Safari or Snow Leopard.

Please Apple when you release an update, patch it to correct a webcam.

You are not talking to Apple here. As explained in http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa
this is a forum that Apple makes available for users like you and me to try to help each other.

If you want to send suggestions directly to Apple, use the appropriate feedback item here:

http://www.apple.com/feedback/

BTW, Apple's hardware and software are compatible with each other.  The responsibility for compatibility of add-on items (like Flash) rests with the add-on developer, not with Apple.

Only you could answer why you would do that. I would not spend my money that way!

I work for a website that has a flash based webcam chat section. It took a while to work out (and a lot of complaints), but I pinned this problem down to a batch of MacBooks (2009 release from what I could work out) that all have this problem with the current version of Flash, irrespective of the OS version used. The camera is simply not recognised in Flash based websites, including Facebook.

Downgrading flash to the previous version works. this also has problems with not recognising the camera automatically, though fiddling with the flash camera settings you can at least make it work by selecting USB camera.

Hi,

I have had this issue on a MacBook Pro Ver 1,1 from 2008

There was a Note on the Google Site that there was an Issue with their GoogleWebBrowser Plug-in that sits in Internet Plug-ins(/Library/Internet Plug-ins and has a Folder in /Library/Application Support) called Google.

In this Google Folder is the Uninstaller (With also the actual Plug-in)
The Uninstaller deletes the Plug-in form the Google Folder and Flash Works again.

Without deleting this /Application Support/Google/ Google WebBrowser Plug-in even the Flash Beta does not work.

I did notice that the Flash Pop up when using the Koowy Site (Formerly MeBeam) does not revert to the USB UVC Ccamera listing but retains the "Built-in iSght" description.

Hi,

Welcome to the  Discussions

I am confused if you are talking about a Flash Site that needs a Password, logging in here using your Apple ID or using something in iChat.

If it is the last an Apple ID is not always a Valid iChat Name (Only ones ending in @Mac.com or @Me.com from APple are also iChat/AIM valid Screen Names)
