I'm an engineer with LOTS of computer background and experience in both operating and programming with Windows & Windows applications. I recently bought an iPad and found ZERO instructions for using it. My intent was to use it solely for books and pictures. I did not run iTunes because I had no interest in doing anything with music. Out of desperation I opened iTunes and discovered it is the vehicle for doing everything. BUT I found ZERO instructions for using iTunes. I was left to fumble & click & experiment for hours with great frustration. The help files are helpless. I finally bought a book "iPad for Dummies" which gave me exactly what I needed to know.. mostly. I don't understand how Apple can sell these products without instructions on how to use them! Searching for online help files and tutorials is NOT the way.Any "MANUALS" out there anywhere?

    Don't really need them.

The manual is also bookmarked in Safari on the iPad, if memory serves, and the URL may be in the "quickstart" guide included with the iPad (I didn't keep mine so I'm not certain). Apple also has a number of guided tours and tutorials here:

I appreciate you showing me links on how to use iTunes, but when I buy a product I shouldn't have to Google the internet to figure out how to use it, or query people in this forum!! Other computer-type products include a CD with everything you need to know. I did find, online!, the manual for the iPad, but it's pretty sparse. CHRIS-CA SAYS INSTRUCTIONS NOT NEEDED. I discovered how to download an app "Free Books" but no instructions on how to USE the app. After trial and error I downloaded a free book. I read it now I want to delete it. NO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE IPAD MANUAL NOR IN THE APP ON HOW TO DELETE A BOOK. Normally I’d right click on it, select Delete from the dropdown menu, and delete it. Can’t do that.Discovered how to load photos into iPad. Would like to create albums to organize the photos. No instructions in the iPad Manual on how to create an album. There’s an app on the iPad called iPod. I tapped it. It says I can download music from iTunes. That process is evident. Nowhere does it tell me how to move the music from the IPAD to the IPOD.

Just curious, what other consumer electronic items have you bought lately?
Hardly anything comes with a CD or manual any more. Maybe a quick-start brochure, and that's about it. They pretty much all say to check a website.

As far as apps not having instructions, go back to the app developer on that one.

Katrina, can you direct me to the website that explains how to a) delete a photo from iPad, b)create a photo album on iPad, and c)move audio files from my iPad to my iPod? I'm VERY familiar with search engines and web research but I've given up trying to find these things. If they're that easy to find, I'd appreciate your showing me how easy it is.

Sure, it was easy to find. I clicked on that link Chris already posted for you. Then I clicked on the ipad user guide. It opened in a PDF.

Then I hit ctl-F which is pretty much the universal "Find" shortcut for most programs. I typed "delete photo" in the search field and it took me to page 62.

    Open the manual.

    Read the manual.

    Easy.

    And?

And he wants to vent? OK by me. He probably also recognizes that old RTFM acronym which a lot of engineers ignore.

I erased most of what i was going to type. Because you know me. I really temper my responses.
I work with engineers and it's really pitiful sometimes.

First time I heard about one buying a "Dummies" book, I will say.
