My Ipod no longer turns on or is recognized by the computer (in all usb ports and in more than one computer) and I´m not able to charge it. I tried to restart it to no avail.
Anyone knows what is going on? Some advice?
Same problem. Purchased 3 days ago and did setup and downloaded music/apps. Today it won't turn on and when I plug into computer or wall jack, screen remains blank. What's going on?
ok, got mine working now. I had it plugged into computer. I then pressed the on/off button and the home button at same time. I am guessing that this unlocked it and is now functional again, found this tip in support. will find again and post for all.
A friend told me to *hold down the power button and the round home button at the same time for several seconds* and it worked. (I wasn't plugged into computer). Working fine now. Thanks for your advice too.

Gee's sounds like the 4G has got some serious problem, i bought my 64GB a week ago and it locked up and wouldn't start or show and sign of activity when pluged into wall socket or laptop. Thankyou for the usefull info on how to get it back to life... its a pitty apple didn't and doesnt actually assist with this infomation somewhere easier to find. oh and the "hold the buttons for a few seconds" is more like 20sec's
I put my iTouch 4g on standby during school and a few mins later it wouldn't turn on, tried to charge it, but it didn't work and the computer wouldn't recognize it. Tried holding down the power button and home button together like you said, and it worked 🙂. Thank you, I was really scared. Btw, you have to hold it down for like 8-10 seconds.
Same problem, same solution - iPod just randomly turned into a paperweight, stopped responding to any buttons or plugging it in. Connected it to the computer, pressed the home and power buttons at the same time, and it came back to life. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks to this forum I fixed my ipod touch 4g 32 gig. I instantly freaked out because my ipod just went off and it wouldn't come back on. I found the suggestion on here about holding in the home and power button at the same time and viola! it worked! Thank you sooooo much for taking the time to help us ipod owners 🙂 I think I speak for everyone in saying that we love and appreciate you! 🙂
