Purchased music does not appear in my "Music Library"

Hi,

I recently bought an album from the iTunes store, but cannot locate it in my main music library in iTunes. When running iTunes, the new music appears under my "Purchased" music tab (left-hand column under the "iTunes Store" tab), and I am able to play the purchased music. However, the purchased music still does not show under my "Music" (left-hand column under "Library") tab in my main music library.

I've purchased music before from the iTunes store and never had this problem. The music has always appeared under both my "Purchased" music tab and in my main music library.

How can I get my purchased music to appear in my main music library? Has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks for the help.

Bryan

Hi - in my case, the music does not appear in my purchased playlist. I purchased the songs from iTunes using my iPad. The songs are no where to be found. I tried downloading one of them again, thinking maybe something went wrong during the purchase... I got the message that I had already purchased the song. I've purchased music from iTunes this way before with no problem. Where is my music?

Having a similar problem. Several songs that I purchased from itunes at first appeared in my library, and I even remember listening to them, then vanished. It's happened on both my iphone and my pc. Itunes says that they have already been purchased, and wouldn't let me redownload. Fortunately, in my case the files were still there in my music folder, just for some reason they weren't being shown in itunes. I've added them back into itunes now, but it's really very annoying.
Does anyone know what's causing the problem?

So after a VERY lengthy telephone chat with Apple Support, the problem is still unsolved. They had me try all different ways to transfer purchases, deauthorize, reauthorize, restart my Mac, restart iPhone, uninstall iTunes (which is a very long process), and reinstall iTunes. The only solution they said was for me to email iTunes with my case # and get them to allow me to re-download all my previously purchased songs. Anyway, maybe thats what u folks need to do.
Btw, the support team is selectively hesitant with helping to uninstall iTunes. The "supervisor" even had the nerve to verbally speculate that I just wanted to transfer "Limewire" songs (which i do not have) onto my iTunes.
Good luck to you all.

Same thing here. Purchased an album via iTunes. Showed up in Purchases but not in Music. But the files are in the iTunes Music folder (correctly) but don't appear in the iTunes app. Tried importing them, dragging them to the Music window, quitting iTunes, rebooting MacBook and repairing permissions. Nothing works!

However, I have copied the files to my Mac Mini and they import to iTunes and show up correctly.

Weird.

I thought this was happening to me, until I realised everytime I used the search bar to find the file or album in my music library the search bar was set to 'search composer' rather than 'search music'. I could search and find the album in 'Purchased' and also see the album cover in the 'Artists' tab in my music library, but tab back to 'Albums', search the album name and it wouldn't appear. It took me a long time to figure it out ...

I had the same problem. Bought an albumn on iphone. It was there for a few days. Then it disapered completely. I had run itunes match so it may be something to do with this.

Anyway, I fixed it quite simply. On the homepage of iTunes Store there is a link in Quick Links called "Purchased". Click on that and you should see your purchased music and be able to downoad it.

Have the same problem.

Purchased an album over my iphone last night (have iTunes match) and this morning opened my computer and went tu purchased music and downloaded the album to my Mac as well but the music doesn't show up in my Music library. I can see the album in Purchased section but not under my music library. I can even listnen to it under the Purchased section but that's not how it should work.

Also trid to drag the files from Finder into the music library but no success. Restarted iTunes, restarted my MBA and still nothing.

Why do I have to spend every day an hour on mac forums in order to keep stuff working as it should??? I have a main job also. Can I bill Apple for hours wasted on repairing their stuff on a daily basis?

hello everybody,

I believe I have found what's happening.

I have bought on my MBP music from the iTunesStore and from Amazon, and while they don't appear in my Music Library, they appear in inteligent lists.

So if you create a new intelligent list which does not have any criteria the "missing" songs should appear.

I've been digging a little more, they don't appear anymore if I filter to get only Music type of support.

which makes me think that new songs are not identified as music by iTunes, which explains why they don't appear in the music library

hope it helps,

Laurent

I was pursuing through the general questions and answers of everyone seeing as I had the same problem.

I was shopping in iTunes when I came across a song that said it was "Purchased" and not knowing I'd recently bought that song (since I've recently purchased a new iPhone 4s) I went to my library and it was not there.

After further investigation I clicked on my iTunes on my phone. I then clicked on Purchased (on the bottom in between search and more). I clicked on Music. And then I clicked on Not On This iPhone.

I then saw an entire masterpiece of songs that I thought had been lost in translation between my iPhone and old iPod.

I hope this helps someone!!
