What is the equivalent of IE8 Compatibility view in Safari?

I am trying to open a webpage which has been designed for an older browser. If I open it in IE8, on a windows pc, the problem is corrected when I use "compatibility view". However, I don't seem to be able to find an equivalent in Safari. Am I right in saying that I cant load IE8 on my iMac?

Yes, unless you use bootcamp & install windows.

You may have luck with one of the other User Agents offered by Safari.

First, if you don't see it - enable the Develop menu by using Safari-Preferences-Advanced- Show Develop menu in menu bar...

then try the Safari-Develop-User Agent options - note that they operate per tab & are reset when that tab is closed.
Failing that, try Camino or Opera or Firefox browsers.

Be glad you can't install that latest Microsoft booby-trap.

Microsoft has issued a warning about a serious vulnerability in all versions of its Internet Explorer (IE) browser.

If exploited by a booby-trapped webpage the bug would allow attackers to take control of an unprotected computer.

Anybody who still constructs their websites to only work with IE on Windows are simply not worth dealing with.
