Sorry mate, I thought my original post explained my problem. The problem is that all of a sudden and without me doing anything to alter any settings iTunes is now not allowing me to listen to or sync any purchased items. When prompted to authorise my computer to do so the error message 42003 is displayed.

Surely I can't be the only one who is experiencing this since the latest iTunes update? it's a major issue for me at the minute cos i can't sync any apps to my replacement iphone 4 which i recieved yesterday.

I've rang Apple today and they are stumped, was told to email iTunes team which i've done.

Sick as the proverbial parrot.

Yes getting the message that the store is temporarily unavailable when normal access is OK is strange.

I wonder if it could be because increased demand over the holiday period in which case it should clear by itself eventually.

I recently had a problem not being able to play protected tracks and being asked to authorise. In my case I got no error message when trying to authorise. It just failed silently.

I cleared the problem by deauthorising my PC and repeating it until I got a message saying the computer was not authorised. Then I authorised the PC from the store menu. That cleared the problem. It might be worth trying, but in my case the problem was caused by updating the Bios on my PC, so it will probably not work for you.

Are other postings/threads here in Apple Discussions

As well as numerous news stories etc via Google search

About this 'situation/problem'

What might be going on - according to some of the 'talk'

Maybe need newer version of iTunes - appears 8.x won't work anymore

And that seems the case with me, but ...

Can still do searches/browse at iTunes Store via iTunes

Just can't get the iTunes Store 'homepage'

Hope that helps
