Can't read text in Russian!!

Hi,
please help! I can't read Russian on my computer! Everything works fine (web pages and stuff), unless it's something that i downloaded..like an .rtf or .txt file....!! I tried to change coding and font, but nothing seems to work for me. Thanks in advance.

Hi. There are two ways. First put Russian in Language tab of Language & Text in Settings. Sign out and sing back in, you will see that all Russian texts will read correctly. If you want to keep English or other language, but read russian texts with TextEdit, then go to Preferences of TextEdit and open Opend and Save tab. There you will find Encoding, select Customize Encoding List and select all options that has Cyrillic or Russian in name. At least be sure that you select Cyrillic (Mac OS). Then try again to open russian text file (after you close opened file) and in Plain Text Encoding select Cyrillic (Mac OS). If it won't work, then try other Cyrillic encodings. I don't know why it is so stupid to find automaticly 😟. Hope it will solve your problem. If you will find or already found other solution, please share.
