When I restore from my iPod backup, the Apps that came with my iPhone are deleted. Where are the data files located so that a couple of games and other App data files can be moved over?

iPhone 4, iOS 4

App data is stored in only two places: on your phone/touch and as part of your phone's/touch's backup. If you want to transfer this data from your touch to your phone, you would restore your phone from your touch's backup. After you restore from backup, you MUST sync to restore your iTunes content. iTunes content is NOT included in your backup.

I tried doing that when I first got the iPhone. That made my iPhone be called by my iPod Touch's name on my desktop plus the syncing was incomplete because the iPhone didn't have as much storage. Is there a way of keeping BOTH devices backing up? I plan to keep using both.

You can sync as many devices as you want to the same iTunes library, there is no limit. You can have the same content on each device or different content, the choice is yours. iTunes will keep everything straight, by device, upon subsequent syncs. Every time you sync, the first thing done is a backup. On your phone, if it didn't have as much storage space as your touch, you could have still used the backup of your touch to first restore your phone, then just not sync as much content to the phone. You can also easily change the name of your devices, anytime you want, in iTunes. You should, in fact, give each one a unique name, just to keep things straight.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is amazing and how I thought it should work. Now I have both devices listed and backed up.

    Thanks again!

    Hi,
I was trying to do the same thing, backing up my itouch to transfer everything over to my new iPhone. After I restored from backup, all the apps transferred just fine, except the apps were all in a brand-new state- like I had never used them! I had a lot of important info in some of them and was hoping it would have transferred with all my saved progress... is it possible to do that? How? Your help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
