iPod Touch 4 will not play music through iHome iP37

Question

iPod Touch 4 will not play music through iHome iP37

My new iHome works with my iPod Touch 1st gen but when I plug in my 4th gen everything works but the sound comes out of the internal speaker and not the iHome speakers. I would love any ideas.

I'm having the same problem on 2 different ihome clock radios. My classic ipod works fine, but the ipod touch music comes out the ipod touch speakers only. What gives?
