WI FI - BT HOME HUB - IPOD TOUCH

I am officially loosing the will to live. I have purchased an Ipod Touch 4th Generation 32gb and since Christmas I have been unable to connect wirelessly to my BT Home Hub 2.0.

After spending an hour on the phone to BT support, rebooting the hub and changing various settings, they tell me it’s not the hub.

The problem I have is that the Ipod is seeing the wireless network but display’s a padlock and the wireless Key(WPA)is not being recognised. I have also attempted to connect with my nieces Ipod and faced the same problem.

Is there something I am missing ?

what are your Encryption settings mine are set to Use Wep and with the WEP Key length set to 64.

have no problems at all with my ITouch and the BT Home Hub are you entering the correct Encryption Key 'cause it is case sensitive i think
Also have you registered your hub as a BT Fon because this would also give you access the free wifi across the BT network worth trying to ensure no problems with your ITouch

regards

Hi, I have the same problem. My son told me he never was able to connect to the BT Home Hub. I did the "renew lease" and the "forget this network" and still, it looks like the airport shows a full connection (am sitting next to the hub and had restarted it) but nothing searches using Safari.

Nick Nick - am a PC so you have to help me....where do I find the encryption settings on the IPod Touch?

Thanks,

AFAIK, there is no place in the iPod Touch (IOS4) where you can set the encryption and that's a good thing because you don't have to be concerned with it. The type of encryption is negotiated and all you have to do is supply the proper password for the encryption scheme configured in your router.

This document has Apple's recommendations for wireless routers to be used with iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199

You might review your router's configuration compared to the recommendations.

If you touch the ">" in the blue circle (Settings > WiFi > your networkname, what values do you have for IP Address, Router, DNS, etc. ?

Here is a good Apple article about troubleshooting WiFi connections:

Had a smilar problem with my Home Hub.

Suddenly noticed that my iPod was not syncing emails at home. Went nuts for a couple of days checking all of my settings on the iPod and my mail, till I noticed that Safari was not connecting either. Put in the Home Hub key code several times, all rejected (though the wi-fi icon was showing at the top of the screen)

So I tried the old standard of pulling the 3 pin plug out of the wall and counting to 10 before reinserting. iPod took the key the first time, and has been fine since. Did BT support sugest you try anything this basic?

Cheers,
David.
