iPhone 4 suddenly dead, why did it happen?
It's working fine all day now, but I'm worried if it happens again.
But my question is, why did it happen?
Is it software (iOS crash) or hardware issue?

Even this has happened with me today.....and thanks to you that i came out of the shock of a dead apple..... but i dont know why apple is not fixing this bug even after gvng innumerous updates......
Thanks for posting this. Same thing happended to me today. I followed the tip to fix & it's now working, but.... presume Apple want to know it's happening. Battery for me was 50%. I turned it off (sleep) & next time I tried to turn it on (30 minutes latter) - it didn't turn on basically a dead apple iPhone - I held down the off/home buttons till it fired up again. Only thing of note was it prompted to do a "Carrier settings update" a few days ago - which I did. (iPhone 4S v5.0.1 (9A405) running on Optus network in Australia)
