Interface wont play through garageband

I have an audio interface that is hooked up with my macbook through firewire. It is compatible with mac, and under preferences>audio/midi the interface (Gibson RIP) shows up and is selected.

Also, under input source on the track, I have the interface selected (there are several options with the same interface name, but i have tried all of them and they don't work). I have tried the monitor off, on and on with no feedback protection.

Garage band is not recognizing any audio. I know that the interface works because I installed the software onto my computer and it works.

I don't know if anyone has the same interface as me but i would imagine that they all work similar if not the same.

This is how I have everything set up:

Guitar>Interface Inout>Firewire cable (400 to 800)>Macbook Pro firewire port

Thanks in advance for the help 🙂

Have you looked in the GB preferences (separate from the system prefs), to ensure that the interface is the audio in/out Gb is using?

Once that's for sure, check to be sure the guitar has power, if needed (if it's an active PU, you might need a battery, for ex.).

Also, if you get GB to record audio (you might see the waveform in the track's display), but you can't get it to play back, you might adjust your GB prefs>audio>output away from your interface to your built-in speakers.

Just a few thoughts... Best of luck!
