How To Adjust Effects with Keyboard Knob

I have an M-Audio Axiom 25. It has a bunch of knobs. I want to assign those knobs to parameters of effects in Garage Band but I'm struggling to figure out how to do it. Does anyone know how to do it? Does Garage Band support this functionality?

Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

It depends on which generation of the axiom series you have. If it is a 1st gen Axiom then you cannot use any knobs at all with GB. If it is a 2nd gen Axiom the you can use the Directlink plugin from M-Audio which automatically maps certain functions to the encoders to control GB's user interface.

From the M-Audio site:
The 8 encoders map to various parameters in the selected track as follows:

Encoder 1 = Volume
Encoder 2 = Pan
Encoder 3 = Send 1 (most commonly “Echo”)
Encoder 4 = Send 2 (most commonly “reverb”)
Encoder 5 = Low EQ Freq
Encoder 6 = Low EQ Gain
Encoder 7 = Hi EQ Freq
Encoder 8 = Hi EQ Gain

Not sure if this takes care of the 'effects' you want to control?

Thanks. That sounds about right. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to download the drivers from their website. I navigated to a page which should allow me to download the drivers but the link to download the drivers was not there. I have emailed them about the problem though.

In the meantime, what you are saying is that if I install those drivers, Garage Band will automatically recognise my keyboard and realise that it should be mapping to knobs on the keyboard right? Is there ways to assign different knobs to different effect parameters?

Yes

No, unfortunately there is not. Direct link is a set of pre assigned mappings and parameters, and ther is no MIDI mapping features in GB.
