Bizarre network connectivity issues - help!

Hi all,

I have a Time Capsule set up as my wireless network base station and a home wireless network running off it. Until about 1 hour ago, no problems but suddenly, no Internet connection. I initially assumed this was a Virgin Media issue but then noticed that my MacBook Pro was not connecting to the wireless network. It was telling me that none of my preferred networks were in range and then offered me my home network as an option! Weirder still, when I try and connect, the system tells me I am entering an invalid password; I know I am not. In addition to my MBP there are also two windows PCs that were connected to the wireless network but now cannot.

What makes this totally weird (at least to me) is that my iPad has connected to the wirelss network and the Internet with no problems at all!!

Does anyone have any ideas? Given that I have wireless connectivity to the Internet via my iPad, I am reluctant to start playing around without any real idea of what I am doing in case I lose that connection as well. Help!

David

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5), iMac, ipad

Hi David, the fact that none of your computers can connect would seem to indicate a problem with your Time Capsule. I surmise your iPad is connecting to a different wireless network. Is that possible?

Even if that's not the case, I would start by powering down your TC, then powering it up again. That can't possibly hurt anything. On rare occasions, an ISP will change something on their end without your knowledge, and it results in a need to power-cycle your router like this.
