I have been getting this same message for a week now, and have been emailing back and forth with "John" from Apple. His solution was to check the Apple website (no help) and the discussion forums. His next idea was to reset my password. I have explained to him that resetting my password will not help the issue as I am unable to get connected to the store. My latest email to him referenced this particular discussion board. I want to know why they refer us to the board and then do not go there themselves to solve the problems for us. In my case, it is not an ISP or internet connection as I have tried several different ways. Does anybody have a solution? Mine is a school-issued computer.

I have had this same problem for about a week now. I have done the emails and document checking, searched forums and discussions and no solution. I spent two hours on the phone today with Apple support and the senior support person I talked with seemed stumped. He told me to reload Snow Leopard which I did and still not luck. I can go to the apps in iTunes and check for updates but when I click on download all updates I get a message that says I have already purchased this app, please click on check for new downloads in the store tab. That results in the "the itunes store is temporarily unavailable. please try again later" message. I'm not sure what I should do next.

My harddrive went down last week, and I just got it replaced and ever since I got it back ITunes has been Temporarily Unavailable. Obviously I am not the only one, but starting to get really irritated that this hasn't been resolved yet. Anyone find anything else out??

We were experiencing the same problem(s) beginning just before Christmas on one of our older macjines. Today I noticed that iTunes was saying an update was available but when I ran Software Update no update to iTunes showed. Long story short -
Java was out of date - installed but didn't appear to fix anything. Downloaded latest update to iTunes compatible with the system (10.4.11) and processor (G3) on the problem machine. Error message now said that Safari needed to be updated - did that and now it connects to the iTunes store.

I suspect the culprit was the older version of Safari - that machine is used almost exclusively with Firefox which is why Safari was outdated.

Try using the search the store request button at the top right hand corner of the screen.
I have had the same problem since Christmas - error message was along the lines of " not able to process your request, store temporarily unavailable"

I tried reloading Itunes and Safari without instant sucsess, then noticed when re-entering my password that the store was contacted without error.
I searched an artist using the box at the top right hand corner and service was resumed. Although when i purchased some music I needed to re-enter some (not all) of my payment details? Slightly nervous about that bit but will keep an eye out for problems on my card.

I have the same problem with my G4 powerbook(10.4.11). I will try the SEARCH idea and see if this works. I have a problem with my iTouch not reckognized by any of my Macs - G4 and G3s
I used the iTouch with my PC and i suspect the PC upgrade is a Vista version of iTunes and likewise with iTouch?
If my iTunes on the G4 is working will it reset my iTouch as being recognizesed?
