Jan3 and iPhone alarm still not working!

Apple you said the alarm bug would be fixed, but this is not true. Alarm did not go off today 😟

You seem to be assuming Apple knew about this bug before it showed itself just after midnight on 1st January. There's nothing to suggest they did have previous knowledge, and they made a statement about it later in the day on the 1st January saying they had confirmed it and found 2 workarounds. For a holiday weekend that's pretty fast action in my opinion.

Ok. They found workarounds. But how did they try to get this information to the users of the iPhone? They didn't. It wasn't sent through an iPhone update, it wasn't sent through SMS, and it wasn't even on their website. They made no effort.

I'm also curious as to why you are trying so hard to pick a fight with me on a message board. But not curious enough to read any further.

Apple released a statement to the press, which was picked up and repeated by news outlets, websites, blogs etc around the world.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, just trying to point out that what you think Apple should've done, simply isn't possible in the short space of time from the bug being discovered and communicating it to hundreds of millions of users worldwide on a holiday weekend.

This morning........I have an Iphone 4 and my wife has a Iphone 3GS running OS 4.2.1. This morning my alarm went off 7 minutes late on my Iphone 4 set to wake me up at 0700. On the Iphone 4 I had set the recurring alarm setting for every day. As for my wife's Iphone, her 3GS alarm was set for 0600 but it never went off. She is now late to work by over an hour. It appears that both the Iphone 4 and the Iphone 3GS are having the same alarm issues. Both our alarms were set from scratch last night prior to going to bed they were not old saved alarm settings. Can Apple provide any fixes for this issue soon? As for now I cannot rely on the this working for tomorrow's alarm!

It did not work this morning either. I know things aren't perfect- but really- too short a supply of iphone4 where no phone carrier could honor their special price when it debuted because no one had any. Lining up outside of stores when you've been a client for years and years,(????) is the only answer anyone had- and I work the early morning hours- so couldn't get any spot in line.

Now the simple alarm that still won't work today although they promised it would.

Stop Lying Apple- I'm really sick of your "world dominance" arrogance. If you keep making customers unhappy and disappointed don't expect me to keep loyal products. You don't seem to care anymore, so why should I?

I'm going to Blackberry tomorrow.

I created a single occurance alarm last night to wake me up this morning; it never went off! I thought maybe it'd go off an hour late, but not even then!

Additionally, the alarm is still marked as "ON" which means I didn't dismiss it in my sleep.

I just made one to go off in two minutes, which it did. Now that I've dismissed it, it's marked as "OFF".

I think it's important for users to realize that every phone is handling this bug differently. My partner's phone is the exact model as mine and his phone alarm worked fine every day this weekend while mind didn't.

Our phones are 3GS and after reading this forum I deleted all alarms made before Jan 2 and then restarted my phone to discover that it fixed the problem! Thank goodness for this forum.

Apple should perhaps have emailed all customers who have registered iPhones with their Apple IDs...it would have been thoughtful to contact as many customers as possible.

From now on...I won't just assume that iPhone bugs are only limited to my phone!

Good luck to everyone, I hope it fixes itself fast so that you don't miss you appointments.

My 2G iPod Touch, "upgraded" to the latest iOS4 build, experienced this issue yesterday and again this morning so the problem is not resolved.

These alarm issues are symptomatic of what happens when growing companies lose focus on quality and become more enamored with share price and in the belief of their own marketing hype (see Toyota for a recent example).

Apple fail...another company- hungry and committed to not overlooking key quality design release criteria- will fill their growing void in the years to follow.
