I can no longer access my work FTP site from home. I had been using this site for a couple of months now without any problems. On Saturday, I was uploading a large file to the site, about 1.1 GB when the transfer stalled. I quit out of Transmit, my FTP client, and when I tried to log back in to the site I was given the message that the server connection timed out. I checked the FTP site this morning and everything is working fine. I had other co-workers connect remotely and they could do so without a problem.
Could it be that the system has logged the crash and won't et me back in until it is cleared from memory?
if you think so , try to ~/Users/your user name/ Library/ Application Support and Preference
Most of mac apps store there Temp files on that location, you can temporary move that Files and try
depending on how much configuration was required, i would:
a) copy user credentials and any other configuration settings that are required.
b) uninstall transmit from the Applications menu.
c) delete all transmit temporary files, orphaned directories etc
d) reinstall and reconfigure transmit with setting noted in step a.
I'd try with Finder or another ftp client, to confirm that the server isn't blocking you by ip, perhaps wrongly flagging your failed transfer as abuse.
Well since another FTP client isn't the answer, how do I get my server to unblock my IP address? The server is running on a Mac Mini and is only using the FTP function in OS 10.5.8, no separate FTP server software.
Hi
I presume there'd be a connection log on the server, showing all attempts to connect, which may indicate why this is happening from the one location - assuming that you reach the server.
I installed PureFTPd and disabled the FTP function in OSX. I set up virtual users. I tried logging in using Fetch after trashing Transmit as those users but I am still getting a timed out error. My colleague can login from his remote location. I'm stuck! Any other ideas?
