Hi mac_head,

I can not comment directly but wanted to suggest that you open Mac Help while in Finder and search "ftp" in the search field. There are a multitude of topics many of which apply to specific connection issues.

Notice links on Help Topics that are entitled "Tell Me More" which will either bring up additional info and/or other Help topics related to that particular topic.

Others here may have more specific suggestions for you but thought that might get you steered in the right direction at least.

good luck,

How do you connect / attempt to connect ?

I normally use "Connect to Server" in the "Go" menu in the Finder. Then specify the Windows server by IP in the box, ie. ftp://10.0.0.28/ . This should be enough.

If you're specifying a name, rather than IP, it may be incorrectly spelt or punctuated.
The Windows Server may also require an unconventional port be used for FTP access.
Or, it may require secure FTP be used, use s ftp://10.0.0.28/.
