hey all. I appologize for posting this here, but I can't seem to get any info from apple. I was recently referred to a web site called happyipads.com. They say that they will let you beta test an iPad and than keep it for free if we give our main email account username and password. Stupidly, I gave it, and now i'm concernded. Does anyone know the legitimacy of this site? Thank you, and sorry! Alex
definately scam. As other poster sad, change password or account.
A few notes to others reading this post:
1) NO legitimate offer asks for passwords
2) Always check the contact information for sites you think might be legitimate.
3) if its too good to be true, it probably is, period.
Looks like a fairly complete site, and I can see how many people would get drawn in. I am always fielding these kinds of things for my relatives. Not once has a too good to be true site actually been real.
While we're on the subject of "too good to be true," there are a lot of online retailers, particularly for photography gear and electronics who are downright scammers. If you are about to make an online purchase for something that looks like a really good deal, go to resellerratings.com and search for the company. You may find comments from a lot of unhappy past customers.
I saw one person post, about this site mentioned specifically, that they actually are pretty good at changing your password before you can do it yourself. You werent able to change it or cancel it without contacting the webmail admins directly.
Nasty group, wonder what they are doing with it all though?
thank you all for the advice. I successfully changed my password, and yet, this disscussion site still works with my old password. Just a bit confused about that but i'll figure it out. Can anyone tell me what the best way would be to contact my ISP? Right now i'm just using mac mail on my cell phone. My computer is just about kaput...
