No ringtones tab in ITunes

No ringtones tab in ITunes

Have Iphone 4 using OS 4.2.1. Am attempting to download ringtunes without success. Went to store, purchased ringtunes. They show up in music library on PC and Iphone, but not in ringtone selection on Iphone. In ITunes on computer I do not have a ringtone tab as discussed in many other posts. Left to right my tabs are: Summary, Info, Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Photos. But no Ringtones as discussed in most other posts. Suggestions? Help

If the ringtones are not under ringtones, then they are NOT ringtones.

They are only songs/sounds that can be used as ringtones.

There are several free ways to create ringtones from nearly any song/sound file. google will find them.

The only place to buy ready made ringtones is from the iphone itself - the ringtones section, not the music section, of the itunes app.

In understand that.

Unless you purchased from the iphone itself, in the ringtone section of the itunes app ( on the iphone, not on your computer), and not in the music section of the itunes app, then it is not a ringtone.

You have to create the ringtone.

Ok, from the IPhone (alone) I purchased a ringtone from the ITunes store. In the IPod section of the phone I can find the ringtone under recent purchases. However when I go to the Phone section, pick a Contact and then select a ringtone for that contact, the recently purchased ringtone does not show as a selection.

Actually you can get a Ringtone maker that will work on iTunes and it's called
http://audiko.net/. Once u make a Ringtone for your phone it will automatically show up on iTunes as a Ringtone. It won't how ever use Protected ACC Formatted Files(Songs Purchased on iTunes) just so you know that.

I'm having the same problem. I purchased and then created a ringtone (with the app Ringtunes) and it still won't show up in my ringtones list in my iphone. And I have no ringtones tab in iTunes.

I actually found all the ringtones on my iPhone in the iPod "purchased" sections called "ringtones". I can sample the 29 second ringtones there. But they are not available in the ringtone section when trying to assign one to a phone number, just the basic one that come with the phone are located there.

I just did the following:
On the iPhone I went to the iTunes store, ringtone section. I "bought" 2 ringtones that I already bought on the Macbook Pro. When I "bought" them the iPhone put up a dialog box stating that I already purchased these, and if I wanted to "buy" them again. I hit Yes. They are still not available as a ringtone to select from those that come on the iPhone already.
