Frequent iPod touch crashed on 4th generation iPod touch

I've tried searching the forum and couldn't find anybody else who is having this problem, but I thought I would throw out the question, just in case.

Usually an app will start, and then crash after running for several seconds. This happens with Apple apps (like safari, settings, photo, etc.) as well as apps purchased from the app store.

The first thing I do is close the programs running in the background and try to run the app again. This has almost never stopped the crashing.

The next thing I usually do I is restart the iPod. This also does not seem to help.

I have also tried syncing the iPod, and restoring it to factory settings in iTunes. This has also not helped.

I am really at a loss of how to fix the issue. Recently the iPod has not just been crashing to the home screen, but also crashes to the boot screen where only the apple logo is displayed for (what seems like) several minutes.

I have the most recent iPod OS installed and the most recent version of iTunes.

Any suggestions?

tl;dr - My iPod touch is crashing, and none of the basic fixes seem to be working.

No, its working but applications just exit after few second, not just the purchased one but even apple pre-installed applications also, but normalizes after restarting ipod for some time.
I also wanted to know that how often should I restart my ipod? Is there some period of time, when is it necessary to reboot ipod?
As I can remember, I never switched off for long after my purchase!! Problem started recently, I restored, not successful!!

Sorry polledn, that doesn't work for me.

I managed to keep the app store open long enough on the ipod to download a free game (or was I supposed to download it with itunes?). That crashed when I loaded and then so did mail when I launched it afterwards. For me apps tend to stay alive between 30 seconds and a minute and then crash (though some shorter and some longer (had an app stay on several minutes yesterday)).

I too am having this same issue. It's even worse as I can no longer sync my photos from iTunes.

Must be a bug in iOS 4.2.1. Quite annonying as when I listen to music and press the home button - it crahes and I get the Apple logo coming up. Tried everything as noted before in the topic. Still no luck.

Please help. I guess I will have to wait until iOS 4.3.
