Powebook G4 loses CMOS settings AND does not charge battery

So a friend of mine gave me this dead Powerbook G4 the other day, I took it in and managed to revive it by removing the CMOS battery and putting it back. Afterward I left it plugged into an outlet for a good 30 hours (the maximum amount of time for the Powerbook's CMOS battery to take to charge. P.S., it uses 4 VL2330 Panasonic rechargeable coin batteries set up in parallel and series). I set the time and date, shut it down, took out the power cable, waited a few minutes, and rebooted to see that it still was losing the time and date. Now, I wondered if this was sign of a bad CMOS battery that would no longer charge. To test tis theory I whipped out my multimeter and tested the CMOS battery. To my surprise the thing was fully charged, giving out a total of about 6V. I figured maybe on some outside chance the batteries could be not giving off enough current or something weird like that, so I replaced the CMOS battery with a new one ( http://ubuntuone.com/p/Whw/ I know, beautiful isn't it. But it sure beats paying $30+ for a new one online! If they even have them in stock..). Anyway this baby spits out about 6 volts as it should and I tried it out but no luck 😟. Imagine how much money I'd be out on if I had purchased it online!

So, my question is what could be causing this computer to lose it's time and date settings every time power is removed from it if the the CMOS battery is not the problem? Could it be a faulty PMU board? But wouldn't that also mess up other stuff, and not just that?

Another problem I am having is with the external battery. When I insert it, it will usually just stay at 0% and say "Calculating until full..." I have gotten it a couple times to charge to 1% or 2% but after that it will just skip to 100%, and when I unplug the AC power it dies. Then, soon after the AC power is removed not only does the computer die but the battery loses what little power it has left (the LEDs on the bottom stop blinking). I have tried resetting the PMU, the NVRAM, the PRAM and all that multiple times. What could be causing this problem? Bad battery? Or is it a bad PMU...

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
