Volume problems with my iPad

I recently have had a problem with my iPad's volume. I can't hear anything for certain apps such as the ABC app or certain videos on my internet browser even when I turn the volume to max.I also can't hear the clicking sound when I type on the keypad. But I can hear when I put headphones in and when I take them out if reverts back to not being able to hear a thing.
