Problem deleting text messages

I have a problem deleting my text messages since yesterday. When i click Edit and i press on the red button, the Delete button appeared only for a second and then it wont stay. I have tried reboot my iphone but still cant.
Beside that, why my battery drains so fast even after i just charge it?

Edit a conversation: Tap Edit. Tap the circles along the left side to select the parts of the conversation you want to delete, then tap Delete. When you’re finished, tap Done.

Delete a conversation: Tap Edit, then tap ➖ next to the conversation and tap Delete. You can also swipe left or right over the conversation and tap Delete.

Are you sure? I was responding not to you but to the original poster (note the positioning of these boxes), who implied that he/she was missing a step in the procedure: as they posted "When i click Edit and i press on the red button"

Text Problem- Error Message Reads "Message Send Failure." I am unable to Edit, Delete,Forward or 'access' this particular text account in any way. As of today, my other text accounts are behaving in unusual manner. I have been searching for answers, to no avail. This is an iPhone4, aprrox 6 weeks old. I have been texting for roughly 9 years and never have run into this. Any advice, at all would be greatly appreciated.

Dera all,
i also have the issue
I assume it is an app that runs in the background and therefore also killes the battery and the device gets warm
I got my iPhone replaced and not the same! so I assume it has to be one
Do we have a chance to see what process is running in the back?
does Apple have an idea (seems not)
