App Store Freezing When Downloading
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

I had the same problem, but unmounting bootcamp partition did not help.
I had disabled Spotlight some years ago, but it did not affect anything until now...
So my solution is to re-enable spotlight (or the mds service with:
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
)
After this App store freeze is disappeared. I hope this comment helps for others.
After a couple weeks of being unable to use the App store, re-enabling Spotlight fixed the problem for me. Thanks kolesm! I disabled spotlight so long ago I hadn't even thought of it being an issue.
Thanks a ton kolesm! I did the same thing and re-enabling spotlight did the trick for me too!
Thanks kolesm, enabling spotlight did it for me too.
Kolesm is the man
Indeed, re-enabling Spotlight fixes the problem. Thanks Kolesm and Internet!
+1 re-enabling spotlight. Thanks kolesm !
Having the same problem. No bootcamp mounted, and spotlight is enabled. Still nothing and its driving me crazy!
Same thing. One more thing: I signed out App Store, and tried downloading an app, it didn't bother pop up a box asking logging-in.
Why nobody from Apple comes in and give an answer?!

yes, this was the case for me too. I disabled it using "spotless" and had to reenable it. Now app store works. Thank you!
I don't have any bootcamp partition to unmount.
I've disabled and re-enabled spotlight
Then I used Onyx to enable indexing on startup-disk
Now I can update the apps, but the spinning circle still there
Could anybody provide hints?
Thank you 🙂
