App Store Freezing When Downloading

Question

App Store Freezing When Downloading

Anyone else experiencing a freeze when downloading an app? I keep trying to download a couple free apps and when I do I just get a spinning beachball. I've force quit the app 6 times and restarted my computer. Not a great experience so far.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Yep...same here. Thought I'd test out the App Store by downloading a free app, in this case Twitter. App store becomes unresponsive with a pinwheel cursor spinning forever.

I'm thinking it was just an onslaught of everyone downloading App Store and Twitter at the same time.

Same problem here is as well... tried restarting and everything. It gets stuck using about 30% CPU when it's beachballed. If I click on the "Updates" tab the same thing happens. Is it possible an existing app I already had I have is causing the conflict?

I, too, am seeing the App Store hang as soon as I try to install a free app (e.g. Twitter) or even if I just click on "Updates". Force quite and relaunch doesn't seem to help.

I do have existing versions of iWork and Tweetie, though.

I had the same problem, when I tried to download the Twitter app. I had to Force Quit the Mac App Store.

I tried again and the app downloaded successfully. It might be a bug or all the people trying the new service at the same time.

Same here. Restarted multiple time, repaired permissions, cleared my cache, and it still doesn't work. It just freezes when I try to download any app. The beach ball keeps spinning and spinning and spinning...
