Airport Extreme how to set wireless N only 2.4ghz ?

Hello and I apologize if this is posted in the incorrect area.
I run win 7 and I am trying to set my Airport Extreme base station to run on N mode only on 2.4ghz.
I am trying to connect my Boxee Box on N only.
In options I don't have any setting for just N only for 2.4ghz. It only shows mixed modes.

Is there a way to do this ?

Welcome to the discussions, PJMK!

Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup

Click the Wireless tab just below the row of icons

Hold down the Option key (it might be Control on a PC) while you click on the Radio Mode selection box to see a list of all settings. If you have a new dual band AirPort Extreme, you'll want to choose the following setting:

802.11n only (5 GHz) -- 802.11n only (2.4 GHz)

The -- separates the 5 GHz and the 2.4 GHz band. It is not possible to configure the dual band version of the AirPort Extreme for 2.4 GHz only operation.

Wow I would of never known that! This should be documented in the manual or somewhere in Airport settings. I really appreciate this and will give a try tonight.
I was sure hoping this was possible.
Thanks Bob

Bob,
One last question. I am not to smart when it comes to all this wireless stuff. But is there any other settings I should change to make the wireless improve ?
Where I live I am limited to a provider called yourlink.ca which is a wireless broadband service provider and I only see between 1.0 - 2.5 Mbps DL speeds.

I am trying to stream content via Boxee Box online videos and stuff and I experience much lag/freezing etc.

I am goin to try the N tonight and see if that helps any. But is there any other settings you recommend ?
I don't have the option of hard wiring my Boxee right now, just wireless or Power over Ethernet.
My Airport Extreme is upstairs and has to pass through one floor to the Boxee.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Boxee so I can't offer much on that. It appears to be a download service for videos, etc.

In general, streaming video content is very demanding and usually requires a minimum of 6-7 Mbps for decent performance. More is better. Not sure really what to suggest given your service.

I'm afraid that changing to "n" only is not going to give you any improvement, but it's worth a try.
