Mac App Store - No Credit Card

Hello,

I have been trying to figure out how the **** I'm supposed to accept the new T&C of the Mac App Store without a credit card. I do not and will not own a credit card but the option to select 'None' is not present in the Mac App Store.

Any Help? D:

iMac11,2, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

This is bloody disgusting. It's utterly unacceptable that apple try and force you to enter credit card details to download free apps

They don't try and force you or require you to do that.

. I honestly can't comprehend why people like apple software and services, they're totally awful.

and yet you continue to use an Apple product...😐

Yes they do. If you don't have a CC number attached to your account, the App Store makes you review your account. It doesn't matter what you're doing. You can be downloading free apps, or like I was, updating existing apps. It kicks you into the browser and you have to go through several pages. One of the pages asks for a CC number and it won't let you pass until you get one.

Anyway, I got around this by attaching this to a PayPal account. Unlike an AppleID, I can delete a PayPal account.

Shame on You Apple. iTunes bugs and ID-traps make me angry and thinking of alternatives...

I can't add my music to my library.

Why is there no update yet?

in order to solve that problem, another problem came up.

I can not download a free app from the iTunes store, without a credit card.

Why not? Because I have to verify my apple ID (see Shu Chow).

And there is now NONE button!

and

Why can't I delete my apple ID? Create a new ID - create a new email address - create a new name??????

Make it work! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

In reading through this thread and checking my own account information from my 2 Apple IDs (personal and work) and then looking at one of my customers IDs I'm seeing a lot of what is posted. Chris CA I have the same payment options on both of my accounts but the None button for my customer's account is non existent. To get around the problem we went ahead and finished the review by having her enter the CC info. We then went into her account information, selected payment info, and the NONE option was there. We made the change and her CC info was removed.

The problem I see is that you are more or less forced to, in some instances, enter some form of CC information because that None button isn't present from every version of the form.

It may show up for you, but it does not show up for me today, Feb 23 2012.

When I sign in to the Mac App Store with an existing Apple Id, it prompts me with:

When I click Review, then Continue, and agree to the terms and conditions I see the following screen.

There is no option for none, and I've not yet found any way to complete the review and complete the "purchase" of the free software.

Chris CA, why don't you understand that we simply don't have it.

I do understand that you don't have the None option.

But why can't you read what others have written?

It may true be that they don't see the None option but it is available (for some) so these statements are all false.

Existing accounts can be changed and you are not required to enter a CC for existing accounts.

Sho Chow wrote, "how many people have to tell you that the "none" option is not there for existing IDs before you get it?"

J_engstroem wrote, "Apparently, apple doesn't allow existing registered accounts slip in without giving up their credit card numbers"

Eep- wrote, "There is no "none" option! Existing accounts cannot be changed! "

Anyway, good luck everyone...

I'm not going to click back 10 pages, but from I've seen, you've offered no explanation for this discrepancy or possible solutions to fix this discrepancy. In fact, with this:

> so these statements are all false.

your whole contribution to this thread is to cover your ears and say, "lalalalala you're all wrong lalalalalala." Thanks. I hope your previous 60k posts were more helpful.

As the 11 pages of this discussion clearly demonstrate, not to mention the dozens of similar topics that can be found with a quick search, a large number of people do not have a "none" option and are not happy about it.

There can only be two logical conclusions to this, either:

1) Apple are trying to force us to hand over our credit card details in exchange for "free" apps,

or

2) There is a bug in the appstore code.

Either way it is something Apple needs to fix if they don't want people to think they are unprofessional and dodgy.

Simply implying people are stupid and that the problems they are reporting don't exist does nothing to help anyone and simply makes Apple customers angry with Apple.

"your whole contribution to this thread is to cover your ears and say, "lalalalala you're all wrong lalalalalala."

Don't believe I have told everyone they are wrong.

But many here have said that the is never an option for None when the pix show this is incorrect and others have also stated they simply selected None to get it to work

"Thanks."

You're most welcome.

Glad you were one of the people able to select None worked and get it working, as it did for others in this thread!
