ERROR: The product distribution file could not be verified.

I need help with this too! It is driving me crazy!

I was literally going to post a topic regarding this.

This problem happens on every app, both paid and free. I've tried any suggestion I've found for other App Store issues, including making sure I sign the T&C, updating my payment information, restarting the app, restarting my machine, etc. Nothing has worked. The only thing I haven't tried is to "re-install" the App Store, but that's only because I don't know any other method of installing it other than when I updated this morning.

I feel like I've tried everything as well... I'm logged into the exact same account on my wife's computer and it works perfectly but it won't work at all for my machine... I really wish we could find a solution.

I have tried deleting safari cookies and rebooting. Still no luck.

Same exact problem here, just upgraded and launched the app store.

I'm glad to finally see SOMEONE else out there say they have this issue. I too have tried all the tips this morning, to no avail.

The support page also does not appear to be up. I am a big fan of apple but this seemed RUSHED.

Same issue here. Updated from 10.6.5 to 10.6.6. "the product distribution file could not be verified" comes up.

Tried:
1. Resetting Safari.
2. Opening iTunes
3. Delete appstore plist.
4. Signing and signing out
5. Rebooting/shutting down several times.

Has Apple made an official announcement on this subject? Very disappointing... I can't install anything on either of my Macs. Shame. Great concept.

Not that is any consolation but I believe we are the minority.

There do seem to be a lot of us in the Minority. Several of my co-workers are facing this too. :-/

I have the same problem, and have tried everything mentioned here and elsewhere (including permissions repair), but to no avail.

We may be a minority, but surely not that small a minority. People have been discussing this problem on Twitter for hours now and there is at least one other thread on the issue:

Same problem as everyone else: "The product distribution file could not be verified."
I tried applications that were free, ones that I already own, ones that I don't own but would have purchased, Apple applications. Nothing works.
Also, I get the error right after I press the 'price' button even before I have provided an AppleID or iTunes account login.

*MY SOLUTION*
After having this issue...
I just deleted the 'App Store' from the Applications folder. Downloaded the 10.6.6 Combo update, install, restart. And now the App Store is working fine.
