Q: ERROR: The product distribution file could not be verified.

When ever I try to purchase anything in the store i get the error below

"The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed"

Problem showing up a lot on twitter but cant find a resolution. Anyone ?

MacBook Pro 2010 i5 Unibody, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

    Hello,

    same FU_____ING error with iMovie and Xcode.

    10.9.2 installed 2 times.

    Erased com.apple.appstore

    Safe boot

    ......

    .....

     

    5 days trying everithing.

    I'm very disappointed I pay a lot of money HW and SW to apple and it should be solved.

    Solved iMovie.

    Unistalled, logged as guest and downloaded the last version.

    Still have the problem wit Xcode

    When i go to /var/folders/ all i get is to folders named ky and zz

    This error message seems to be the last ditch answer from the App Store when it does not recognize something that is too new for it.

     

    We could not complete your update.

    The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.

     

    For example, on Yosemite, I cannot open .pages files sent to me from users who are already on El Cap.  When I try to upgrade Pages, as it suggests, I get this error.  The only way around it is to upgrade to El Cap so I can upgrade Pages.  Not ready to go there quite yet, so I'll just ask for the files in some other format for now.
