Possible to add more clips to iMovie '11 trailer template?

I've Googled this and searched with key words in the iMovie forum but I cannot find an answer to this question:

*Is it possible to add more video clips to the iMovie '11 trailer?* A relative sent me many clips of their back yard firecracker display and people having fun. *Will the trailer template allow me to include/put in a few more clips/scenes?*

No. The trailer parameters are fixed. However once you've created the trailer you can sue File>Convert to Project. Once it's a project more media can be added to the project.

Tom, thank you for answering.

So, after I convert it to a project, then what aspects of the trailer are retained and which are lost? I can see how music would get lost because it is probably timed to the length of the clips that are installed in the template. However, what else would be lost? What would be retained?

If too much is lost I think I would probably prefer to keep the trailer as it is, because inside that little template I see much to appreciate --- not worth losing just for more fireworks clips.

Nothing is lost unless you remove it.
