Slow Video Loading iPod 4g

When I connect to wi-fi from home I have clean access to safari, itunes, appstore, etc. The only issues I am having right now is the slow load times for the youtube app. I even go directly to the youtube website from Safari and its the same thing. I can see the loading icon doing its thing but the video hardly loads. I can start playing the video but it will stop after 2-3 seconds to load more.

I have an older Android phone that can connect to my wi-fi as well and youtube videos load perfectly on it in high quality. But then when I try the iPod, it just poor performance. Is there something I can do in settings to help this issue or do anything within the router settings? Like I said, both devices connected to the same wi-fi and the iPod basically doesnt load while the phone loads immediately.

I would try two things:

1) Reboot your router (just unplug it from the wall)
2) Reset the touch network settings (tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

I already reset the router several times. Even reset the modem a couple of times as well. I tried resetting network settings and that didn't work.

What I would do is run a Speed test app on your Android phone and on your touch and see if you really have a difference. You can do the same thing on your PC via the Speedtest.net website. This is the only way you say whether or not it is a touch problem (unlikely) or something else.

I ran a test on all 3. My computer was averaging about 6 Mb/s and my android was only 5.5 Mb/s. When I ran the test on the iPod I got about 6 Mb/s as well. Dont understand whats going on.

Since your touch doesn't use Flash, it connects to a different part of youtube than you would with your computer or phone. That website can get so much traffic that it can slow down or it is possible that Google is doing maintenance. The "slow youtube" complaint pops up every so often and we can find nothing to suggest it is a touch problem.

I think it's a 4th generation problem. We have three iPod touches one 2nd gen one 3rd gen and a 4th gen. The YouTube work perfect on the 2nd and 3rd gen iPods but is VERY slow on 4 gen. I would say it has something to do with the retina display...has to process it or something to display it with higher resolution.

Both my second generation iPod touch and my new iPhone 4 play YouTube videos just fine. Both are running iOS 4 versions as well.

Try turning off WiFi on your 4th generation and then turning it back on. See if it doesn't run a bit better after you restart the network.

Some videos I watch load super slow but some load real fast what is the problem?
