I finally convinced my mother to get a 21" iMac running OSX 10.6.6 by telling her it could be partitioned to run a Windows specific software programme only to experience the aforementioned problems with Boot Camp. At least I now know it's not just me. As I live a 3 hour drive away she took the iMac to PC World who say they have done the partition and installed Windows 7. We can't find Windows anywhere on the iMac so are unable to boot it up. Firstly, I am curious to know how they solved the Boot Camp problem and secondly, I'm wondering if it would be better to bite the bullet, unpartition and start over using the workarounds mentioned here.

I had a similar problem with my mac book pro. After a rather pleasant experience with tech support. I was told to skip that step and use the OSX install desk to finish the driver install. It seems that the step to download and burn, that does not seem to work, is only for mac book air. I followed her direction and had no problems with the install of win 7 professional.

Dear all,

I have the same problem listed here, and as I´ve lost the original disks I did as recommend and downloaded the BootCampESD.pkg, extracted the files to a pen drive and did a clean and trouble free installation of windows 7.

However I was unable to use the setup.exe from bootcamp as it says that it´s for a different model. I then installed manually all the drivers and I´m all set. But I now have a major problem, as I was unable to install bootcamp in windows, I don´t have the bootcamp "control panel" and as such I cannot activate the right click.

Is there a way to enable right clicking other then using bootcamp?

I have to say that I cannot believe in this major error from apple! The **** thing is not available for download!

Hope you guys can help me...

I did exactly what u are saying. after I finished to install windows xp, I tried to install boot camp using cd 1. After finishing installing the boot camp system reboot itself, after rebooting I realize that there is no boot camp in the system.

I downloaded update 3.1 but it doesnt work, it says `install boot camp 3.0 first`

what can I do

Hey;
I'm not sure I have the exact same situation regarding Boot Camp yet I explain anyway.
Got my new MBA13 with ultimate config and tried to install windows 7 on it.
Boot Camp assistant download failed to save and I pressed I have the software and it installed ok.
But with no driver.
So about boot camp assistant downloading progress, first I have to go for download cause no disks are provided with the MBA. Secondly on my Internet (rather slow, 256kbps) it does start the process sometimes goes slowly forward but then while process isn't completed it says it is and when you try to save gives the error.
Seems like Chrome download bug if you know what I mean, and, dl size should be about 1 or 2 Gbs since I have seen bootcamp drivers links on torrent sites.

Anyway, if this is what you've experienced please share any solution.

Btw, i'm new here, shouldn't an Apple
Employee show up when an unresolved problem gets this general?

Tnx.

If you have Boot Camp Assistant and Windows Software Support Problem, please follow the instructions:

1- first start boot camp assistant and select the space that you want to use for windows

2- you are asked to either make a cd that contains "Windows Software Support" or skip. Select that you have already got this software

3- setup windows

4- when you finish setup, you should setup boot camp assistant 3.0. for this you have two choices:
1- insert "mac installation dvd" to your mac, then setup boot camp
2- if you had problems like me to setup from dvd, use this torrent link to download "Boot camp assistant 3.0 for windows"

http://search.utorrent.com/search.php?q=boot%20camp%20assistant&e=http%3a%2f%2fw ww.bittorrent.com%2fsearch%3fclient%3dutorrent2200%26search%3d&u=1&source=tb

5- when you setup boot camp, you should run "apple software update" program and install "boot camp assistant 3.1"

6- after setup version 3.1 then setup 3.2 with using again "apple software update"

process is done, have fun...

"Did the 10.6.7 update fix the problem?"

No.

I have a MBP 15" 2011. I have left my Snow Leopard disk at work (200 miles away) and won't be able to pick it up for another few weeks.

I am having the same proplem when I try to save the Windows Support download to a MD-DOS (FAT 32) USB HDD; an error comes up saying it couldn't be saved.

But I found a simple solution that I bet nobody has even thought of trying:

Download the Windows Support stuff to the desktop of your Mac, then simply drag the folder to the external HDD. It copies across with no proplems.

I haven't actually tried installing my Win 7 disk yet in case my idea above doesn't actually work when having installed Windows and somebody has already tried it. So, has anybody tried the method I mentioned above? Were you able to install Windows without the Snow Leopard disk?

Thank you.

If you're using the bundled Boot Camp 3.04 that comes with MacBooks / iMacs etc. it'll not upgrade with the v.3.1, v3.13 nor v3.2 until... if it's saying "v3.0 of Bootcamp is not loaded" etc.

You reload your Windows drivers from a ORIGINAL RETAIL Snow Leopard DVD only. That retail version contained v3.0. You just load in the disc in Windows and it'll overwrite the v3.04.

Once you do that you can then download v3.1, v3.13 (if applicable to you), and v3.2 directly from Apple's Downloads section and it'll all work perfectly then. [once you've all those in you can then download Service Pack 3 of Windows XP as an additional advantage].

Another tip... let Windows RE-FORMAT your FAT32 drive again (i.e. not using the Boot Camp version) or preferably NTFS for the best compatibility.

I can finally tell you what worked for my MBPro 15" (early 2011) in the absence of the original install disk, after trying several options over several days.. The following procedure worked and installed the missing drivers for Windows7 into my MBP.

Donwloaded the bootcamp package from here using OSX

http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/51/42/041-0509/Tqbd9DXyv9SfJVzJ7wYGrPsX dC88HsTmh6/BootCampESD.pkg

Installed package into OSX. Went to the \library subdirectory, bootcamp directory, and copied all files in there to a FAT drive.

Booted into Windows7, clicked on the Setup.exe in the FAT drive (which was copied above), and chose Repair.

Bootcamp installed all the drivers that were missing, and is now updating to version 3.3 through Apple Software Updates.

The above package is from May 2011and should include all the new MBPros, although I can only vouch for the 15" model that I have.

As stated earlier in the thread, the Catalog file lists another BCamp installation from 2010 which might work for other models. That installation (from October 2010) is here:
