Any way to stop vibration when plugged into power source?

Is there any way (perhaps through an app.) to get the phone not to vibrate when it is plugged into a power source? My old Nokia did this. I'd like the phone not to vibrate when it is plugged in next to my bed and I am sleeping.

MacBook Pro 13", Mac OS X (10.6.5), iPhone 4

I don't understand your question. My IP 4 does not vibrate when plugged into a power source (either with the standard white cord or a iHome OEM power stand with built-in speakers). And my phone is set to vibrate on inbound calls.

Hard to tell from your post, but it would appear that IF your phone does vibrate, it's only for a moment. Don't understand why this would be a big deal for you.

Note, my phone does briefly vibrate when I turn the sound switch to silent.

How did you get your not to vibrate when plugged in but still have it vibrate when not plugged in?

Ah, I get it now. You want to have a silent phone that takes messages while you're sleeping. AND you want to see any calls where the caller hung up without leaving a message. Maybe you should try leaving your phone in another room while you're sleeping since you DON'T WANT TO BE WOKEN for any reason while you're sleeping. I think you need to "cut" your lifeline time down a bit.

Or you could try turning the sound all the way down while you're sleeping.

Of course, I'm not in the 24/7 phone business. Life's too short to be totally wired IMHO.

Why you want the phone in bed with you is your business. Unfortunately, the lack of customisation of your phone is Apple's business. One of the things you have to accept when you migrate to the Iphone platform is that you will be unable to customise it at all in the way you can with Nokia or Blackberry's with different profiles. It is very much a one size fits all philosophy with almost no room for manoeuvre. Fortunately the good points of the Iphone far outweigh the bad points but that still means that the things that irk us continue to irk us. For me the ongoing annoyance is the inability to customise SMS and text tones.
