Cannot Sign In to Mac App Store - Tried Every Way Possible & No Progress.

I'm so disappointed that Apple has left so many of us hanging like this. I've submitted several support inquiries online exactly as their site instructed me to & received no response. Not even an automated one!

Here's what I sent to their Support & if any of you can help me out, I'd be forever grateful:
--

I'm a very savvy and technical user who is also on your iOS & Mac Development Program.

Anyways, I downloaded & installed the 10.6.6 Combo Update on my work iMac & had no issues accessing the Mac App Store.

I used the exact same Combo Update on my home iMac & had no errors, however, when I launch the Mac App Store, I can click anything and get a response BESIDES Sign In, Account or BUY NOW.

For whatever reason, my home iMac won't let me log into my Apple ID (please don't ask me to reset my password or something try to reboot; trust me, I wouldn't be writing you if it wasn't serious. I tried everything, including a reinstall of the 10.6.6 update. Nothing changes the fact that it won't give me the sign in dialog where I'd type my Username & Password).

PLEASE HELP - I really want to anxiously start buying some apps & cannot log into this store no matter what I try. I'm convinced it's absolutely a software bug.

Do you perhaps have an INDIVIDUAL INSTALLER of the Mac App Store that I can download? Please don't tell me to redownload the combo update. I did three times already.

Also, both the Mac App Store on my work & home iMacs read Version 1.0 (54) - so why would one work & the other not work???? I'm convinced that there's a small yet critical bug here & that I'm not the only one having this issue. It's really upsetting that Apple released such poortly tested software that apparently has so many people unable to use it.

I hope that you can help & make this work for me ASAP.

Please respond ASAP - I really hope someone actually reads this issue & sends me a useful reply, and not some canned message.

Thank you.

I'm having the same problem too! Glad to read that others are...I thought I was going nuts. The problem exists on both my home and office Mac. Both are quad-core Power Macs running OSX 10.6.6.
When I either try and download an application or login to my account, a login window "appears" (actually behind the main window which you don't know until you move the main window out of the way) but I can't click in the user name or password fields in the form. The only thing that works is when clicking on the cancel button.
Not going to sell many apps this way...especially if there are significant numbers of users having this same problem!

I'm well versed in how to operate a Mac, having used Apple computers predating the Mac, i.e. Apple ii-c and ii-e. and am also on the ADC for Mac and iOS. Kindly do not tell me I am simply doing it wrong.

Rather, someone with Apple has truly blown it.

Anyway, to access your new App Store, I did the requisite downloading of the 10.6.6 update to my existing 10.6.5.

Boo Boo #1

When I launch the App Store app, and click the "Login", the login window come up BEHIND the App Store app window. Took multiple pressing of "Login" to note that.

Boo Boo #2

My office iMac won't let me log in. The text boxes do not get flashing cursor I-Beams in them to enter my ID and password.

Sooooo…

I open up TextEdit, and type in my ID and password and separately copy them, and right-click them into their respective text boxes.

Boo Boo #3

When I then press the "Login" button, things go into an endless loop and never logs in.

Sorry, but this problem musta' been hatched up by Bill Gates (gotta involve/blame him somehow).

Help!

I have the same issue, and have done the same as svenaustin, but I was able to log in after pasting into the respective login fields.

I originally did a Software Update, then tried a Combo Update to see if that fixed the problem, but nope, still the same. Also tried repairing permissions, still the same.

Logged out of iTunes before logging in to MAS, still the same. Multiple restarts, zapped PRAM, still the same.

me too, so frustrated! started with the sign up screen which said that i already had an account with the email address i offered. they said, cancel and sign in with your log-in. so i sign in, and it wants me to review my account details. i change the log in to my email address (supposedly the one associated with this account); this is what the screen requires to move on. but no... "already have an account with that e-mail. cancel and sign in." let's try this again. and again. can't avoid review screen and then... so stupid.

the app for the mac app store magically "appeared" on my programs bar, didn't ask for it. now i can't log in to it. what crap.

Same here, and I would like to know how to delete this entire software update...I suppose I'd have to go back to install disks, then upgrade to the OS before this one? I want to delete the App Store application, but I also want to get rid of it in the Apple Menu too. Anyone know how?

I have a MacBook Pro as well & haven't yet updated it from 10.6.5.
I just ran Software Update on it & noticed that the Mac OS X 10.6.6 was mysteriously missing from the automatic update list of downloads that it suggested me to install.

If this is what it seems, it appears Apple yanked 10.6.6 from the automatic software update list. My guess: they strategically did this given the issues everyone has been having to avoid bad press this upcoming week if there should be any truth to these strong rumors about the Verizon iPhone announcement on Tuesday 1/11.

Regardless, I'm still waiting on a solution to get the Mac App Store working properly on my home iMac which is already upgraded to 10.6.6. I tried yet another reinstallation of the update combo installer DMG & experienced the same results; I'm not able to Sign In to the Mac App Store nor buy any app no matter what I try. Every time I click Sign In, I await that window drawer that rolls down with the Username & Password field which doesn't show. I've tried every conceivable workaround, including manually browsing to the URL that the application calls for the sign-in window. Nothing.

Apple: Please help!! I'm NOT the only one with this issue!!!

In case Apple doesn't listen to that, I beg anyone reading this who knows of a solution to please post it in a reply to this thread. I'm eager to get this working on my home iMac more than any other one of my machines.
