iPhone 3G Battery Life

I've had an iPhone 3G for about 18 months. It seems like the battery is starting to drain faster than usual. Do I need to replace the battery? How many months do the batteries normally last?

I have all the setting optimized to preserve battery time. It has just recently started draining faster than normal. I have not changed any settings or started using the phone differently than I normally do.

The battery will degrade over time, depending on the usage, i.e. number of cycles. According to Apple, it should last 400 full cycles before degrading to 80% of it's original capacity. My 3G is 2.5 years old and the battery is not as good as new but still acceptable for me.

Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

You could also do a Restore but not sure that will help.
