Podcast Problems

I think you're probably right. I'm following the directions here:

Do you have any links to previous discussions about this? I've searched on "ghost podcast links" but nothing is coming up.

Rebuilt my iTunes library and that seems to have fixed the problem with my Apple TVs. I have not yet synced my iPhone or iPad and crossing my fingers that I do not have major problems with that.

I had to revert to my old iTunes library. While I was able to create a new library and it get everything properly established, having a new library means completely recreating everything on my iPhone and iPad and losing all the app data.

This is not acceptable and so I'm living with the minor imperfections of having a few deleted podcasts listed on my Apple TV.

While this is certainly a problem with my library, I really think it's a bug - everything shows up correctly on my computer, iPhone, and iPad. The only place it's messed up is on the AppleTV, so I believe this is a bug in the way the AppleTV reads the data from iTunes.

Sigh...not much I can do expect hope that apple sees this and fixes this in a future update.

I ran into this issue today. What I did to solve it was to go into my Itunes Media Folder and find the stray podcast and send it to the trash. That should fix it for you.

You're right and that did fix some of them, but somehow the library sees podcasts that just do not exist any more. I went through the trouble of unsubscribing and deleting all my podcasts. I even deleted the whole podcast folder within the iTunes folder.

iTunes itself believes podcasts are empty, but Apple TV still sees a half dozen or so stray podcasts and subscriptions that have long been deleted.

I've restarted many times. I think my library may have some incorrect data. Sadly, the only way I can find to get rid of it is to totally rebuild my library which means totally wiping my iPhone and iPad data so it can sync to a new library. That's just way too much work to clean up a list of Podcasts.

Apple, help!
