Mini Display port to HDMI max length??

Hi guys, I'm just wondering if there is a maximum length HDMI cable that the Mini Display Port can output too?

For example, I can output audio and video with a 2m length of cable. When I attach a 10m length of cable, I have no audio but only video on my TV.

I'm not sure of any limitations??

The answer will depend on the cable quality, so there is no one correct answer. A better grade cable might work at 10m. Where did you get the one you have?

Well.. both are van den hul cables

Its very odd as the longer one gives both audio and video from my hp laptop.

That is really odd that video is passing through and audio is not since they share a common transport. Are you sure the settings aren't changing on the MBP when the cable gets swapped?

HDMI is designed to work the best with a max length of 15ft (4.5m). Of course you can use 50ft but 15ft will ensure that no quality is lost from the mac to the tv or screen.
