MIDI GarageBand and how to assign functions to automatization

Hey, I'm new in Garage Band, I used to play Live! or Fl Studio and I wanted something better for guitarrists.

The main problem I have i s when editing or writing MIDI in playing time.
I mean, I record a drum using my M-Audio Oxygen keyboard, first the rythim with the snare and the kick.
Then I want to replay it and record over it and WITH it the hihat's. I can't!! It creates a new track and delete the old one.
Do you know how I could work like in Live! default? I think it should be possible.

I've checked the guide of Garage Band 09(Mine one is '11) and says about preferences and cycle loops. I trid to turn on that tick but it just works the same way.

Do you know if there's any solution? What should I change in the menu?? Keyboard cuts?

And second question. Also, with my keyboard I would like to be able to use the button(play,Rew,FF,REC) which are in the Oxygen in GarageBand. But I see it doesn't work(in PC Live! it worked from the first time). So do u know if I could assign some thing to each button(from REC button to select the reverb from channel 2 with another one from the Keyboard).

Maybe it's not possible, but I'll try 😉

And if u know how to use it I'd really thank your answer!!

You could always create multiple instances (software tracks) of your kit, record bass in one, snare in another, HH in another etc. The disadvantage is that it takes more time, the advantage is that you have much better control over mixing your kit and or adding effects to certain kit parts.

Currently you cannot assign or MIDI map any of the transport buttons in GB 11 on your Oxygen.

I found a great and even better way to improve what I asked.

You just have to check that you can write more than one track at the same type.

And then you just choose a loop, from the start till the end or wherever it needs, and you can overdub it and overdub it times and times, or choose which is better.

It's even better and easier than I expected.

And it's just a pity that we can assign midi map buttons in GB... Is it possible in Logic express??

And if I'm using Guitar Rig as a AU... neither...
