I am a new Aperture user--downloaded Jan 7th. The tutorial uses downloaded files from included "CD" which I do not have since the download was from the new Apple store. Is there any way to get these files so I have something to play and learn with before trying to use my own files?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

This question was also asked by users who had downloaded the trial version and then bought the key to authorize it.

Unfortunately the sample library that the tutorial is referring to is only available on the boxed CD product. Apple has never, to my knowledge, made the sample library available online.

Now that they are selling Aperture through the App Store they may change this and make it available. You may want to contact Apple and request that they do.

    regards

Thank you Frank. I was afraid that was the case. It is unfortunate to base a tutorial on material unavailable to the student! I will ask Apple and maybe when I am at an Apple store, can get the CD.....Thanks again....Cat

Do you have an Apple Store nearby? Maybe if they have a CD laying around the store they might let you load it. Or they might know of someone you could copy it from. Its a long shot but who knows.

Good luck and welcome to the list btw. And thanks for the star.

Another solution is to buy the peachtpit press book 'Aperture 3.' It is a book that can lead to 'apple certification', but is a good step by step introduction into the tools and powers of aperture. The book is available as hard copy with a DVD or downloadable with downloadable files.
If you are serious about using the program it is a great place to start.
there are other books as well that may be comparable. R W Boyer has an excellent downloadable series on aperture. He is a frequent contributor to this forum as well.
