iMovie '11 missing events and projects

I opened iMovie earlier this evening and noticed my projects and events were nowhere to be found. I tried to import movies, and it would not let me, let alone bring up the dialog box. I looked at my iPhoto events in the side panel, and noticed that my movies in iPhoto were not showing up. I thought it might be a problem with an update, so I updated the software, but nothing changed, even after restarting. I opened the iMovie folders and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Is anyone else having the same problem, or has anyone else fixed it?

Really?

I have not had another encounter with this problem yet.

I'm still wondering what might be the content that is proving toxic to iMovie. I recently purchased a camera that stores movies in .AVI files. That's the only recent change to my workflow, and I'd say the iMovie problem didn't crop up until a week later.

Here's another thing to try though. Go to Movies > iMovie Projects. Move the project files therein to another folder, and then launch iMovie. Try moving the project files back in several at a time, re-launching iMovie between each trial. It could be choking on some aspect of its own project files.

Good luck!
