Magic Trackpad single click will not work?

My Magic Trackpad will not accept single clicks. The two finger tap right click works but it will not accept a single finger left click. It did the same thing last night but restarting fixed the issue however this morning I have shut down twice and restarted twice and no luck. I had to switch to my Magic Mouse but I prefer the trackpad. I am getting very frustrated. I double checked the settings and the settings are correct that a single finger tap is enabled to be a single click. Any ideas?

Repair Disk Permissions in Disk Utility.

If that doesn't take care of it do a SMC reset and if that doesn't help do a PRAM reset.

_SMC RESET_

• Shut down the computer.
• Unplug the computer's power cord _and all peripherals_.
• Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
• Release the power button.
• Attach the computers power cable.
• Press the power button to turn on the computer.

_PRAM RESET_

• Shut down the computer.
• Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
• Turn on the computer.
• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
• Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
• Release the keys.
